Devils Burden Team Relay event

Posted on Updated on

Each year Wee County Harriers send teams to take place in the Devils Burden relay event which is ran on a course around and over the Lomond Hills in Fife. It’s always a great event and once it’s over you get fed back at Falkland Village hall and we usually go for a drink in the wee pub next to it.

This event is more of a club day rather than a competitive run so everyone is welcome.

In fact the organisers deliberately cater for slower teams by having two start times: 9:30 for slower teams and 10:30 for the faster teams.

Can anybody interested in doing this race please let the Secretary, Alastair, know by Friday 15th January so that he can submit teams.

Race Details:

This race is a team race of 4 legs with varying ability and terrain.
  • Leg 1: Falkland to Strathmiglo (single runner) 7.5km, 220m climb
  • Leg 2: Strathmiglo to Kinnesswood (paired runners)  10km, 680m climb
  • Leg 3: Kinnesswood to Maspie Den (paired runners) 11km, 360m climb
  • Leg 4: Maspie Den to Falkland (single runner) 5.5km, 390m climb
Full details of the race and maps for the individual legs are posted on Fife Athletic’s web site.
If you want want to know anything more about the race then speak to some of the longer term members at training as most of us have done it at least once.
